NEWBIKEPRODUCTS has succeeded in creating MTB base layers offering a HIGH level of comfort thanks to an OPTIMAL pattern, high-quality fabrics and the choice of a chamois from the renowned Italian company ELASTIC INTERFACE.
During the testing phase, we tried out several chamois pads and noticed significant differences in terms of comfort; we eventually opted for the MTB TRAIL model from ELASTIC INTERFACE, which features different thicknesses and densities of material depending on the areas of contact with the saddle..
The MTB Trail pad has a multidirectional curvature that ensures a perfect fit and gives the rider maximum freedom of movement thanks to its fabric wings.
A central channel helps to reduce numbness and pressure on the perineal area and maintains stable blood circulation.
The ischial area has been reinforced with the special Hybrid Cell System material, an exclusive ELASTIC INTERFACE system featuring a mixed-cell structure that provides incredible elastic recovery. As a result, the padding is far lighter and thinner than gel, as well as being much more durable and breathable.
The different thicknesses and densities ensure maximum comfort.
For this reason, it is particularly popular with some top ultracycling specialists, as it guarantees excellent comfort even after many hours in the saddle.
The materials used do not irritate the skin, so you can cycle for hours.
The perforations improve breathability, so you won’t feel sweaty.
WHICH TYPE OF PROTECTION SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
NBP offers you the choice between two types of protective inserts, both with protection level 2, which is the highest available.
If you’re looking for a more BREATHABLE but slightly less protective option, go for the THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER (TPE); if you’re looking for MORE PROTECTION and LIGHTNESS, go for the PU-based VISCOELASTIC RESIN. (2.7 kN difference in residual force)
In terms of comfort, there are no noticeable differences between the two hip/thigh pads.
CHOOSING YOUR SIZE
Take a tape measure or a piece of string and measure your waist circumference, positioning it as shown in the image (well below your navel and level with your hips).

You can also buy a second pair of trousers without the inserts to save a little money.
IMPORTANT/TIPS: You’ll find trousers on the market with protective inserts made of viscoelastic resin, such as D3O, which are SEWN IN, so you have to wash them by hand; otherwise, you risk quickly damaging the protectors and wasting your money. NBP inserts can be removed from their dedicated pockets, and you can pop the whole thing in the washing machine – comfort and practicality are our priorities!
